There are numerous apps (for phones and tablets) available for scanning documents to PDF. I have successfully used MicroSoft Lens (free, last I checked) and the Camscanner (may not be free). Here’s a video that may help:

OCR Online
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) page that worked well for me (on 1/1/2022) is https://www.onlineocr.net/. It converts an image (e.g., screenshot) to text. It will generate a Word document (somewhat formatted as the original) or plain text.

Special Characters
Do you ever want a special character (∃ ‣ ⦿ † ⑦ ⅚ ☺ etc.) You can search (at the top) and you can copy and paste (into Twitter, for example). https://www.compart.com/en/unicode/ For Emoji’s see: https://emojipedia.org/search/?q=wow – this provide more options, but not all Emojis will work in some text environments.
